Water Sports | Tamarindo, Costa Rica

Tamarindo Beach and the surrounding area offers an exciting variety of water sports and activities. Our premier water sport is surfing! Whether you are an experienced surfer in search of the ultimate barrel or are looking to cross Surf Lessons off your bucket list, we can show you to the perfect break. If you like the ocean Zen without the tumble of breaking surf, find your balance on a stand up paddle board (SUP) and cruise along the coast.

Visiting the colorful marine life below the surface is another favorite activity in our warm tropical waters. Come with us to little-known pristine coves for family-friendly snorkeling in transparent waters. Try snuba diving-a fun and easy blend of scuba snorkel that allows a constant air supply without all the equipment. Are you a diver? Would you like to become one? Tamarindo offers dives and dive certification programs all year long.

Tamarindo Bay is a famous launch point for world-class sportfishing charters, near-shore or off-shore. Afternoon catamaran sails that end at sunset, and boat tours that explore the maze of coastal mangroves are other water activities that you won't want to miss. A guided kayak trip to the Captain Island in Tamarindo Bay or up the Las Baulas National Park estuary is a spectacular way to flex your muscles and experience the beauty of marine nature.

Inland water adventures such as river floats and white-water rafting are especially exciting during the rainy season and in the following months while the rich waters are flowing quickly.
