Casa Descanza

We just got back from the best stay at Casa Descanza in Hacienda Pinilla. The house was spectacular, with spacious bedrooms, an amazing pool and a great view on the golf course. The amenities were fantastic and it all made for a great and relaxing stay. The service was top notch. Collin was fantastic before, during and after our stay and was always available for any question whatsoever and helped us book dinners and activities. Our housemoms Xiomara and Dunnia made amazing breakfasts and snacks and kept the house clean at all times. We had a mix of staying at the house, using the amenities of the property as well as going into Tamarindo. I highly recommend this house for a great family vacation. Perfect mix of relaxation and activity done in a luxury way! PURA VIDA!!

Collin & Xiomara did an excellent job at taking care of us during our stay in Costa Rica. Collin’s thorough communication - before, during and after our visit was always very timely. I appreciated this very much as this was our first time in CR. Xiomara is an excellent cook and house hostess. The breakfast and dips that she prepared were delicious.

This was our first trip to Costa Rica. The house and development were awesome. We spent a lot of time at the beach club and on the golf course. Collin was very responsive to the millions of questions we asked him throughout our stay (we had 6 adults and 6 kids total... which leads to lots of questions).
A few general comments for first timers:
- The roads in Costa Rica can be awful, so it can take a long time to get anywhere
- Planning for meals is required, especially with a big group
- definitely recommend hitting a grocery store on your way in as you'll go by then, but the closest is 20-25 minutes from the house

I had an incredible stay at this vacation house last week! Elsa and Collin were absolutely amazing hosts. From the moment I booked, they helped me plan every detail of my trip and made sure everything went smoothly. They were extremely knowledgeable about the area and went above and beyond to accommodate my group, especially when a tropical storm came through. Collin did everything possible to ensure we were comfortable and safe during the storm, which I really appreciated.
The house itself was beautiful, spacious, and well-equipped, offering a perfect balance of relaxation and comfort. One thing to note, though, is that the location is about 30 minutes from Tamarindo, so it’s essential to have transportation arranged, whether it's a rental car or a private driver. Overall, this was a fantastic experience, and I’d highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a peaceful and well-catered getaway!

We could not be happier with our stay at Casa Descanza! We had a group of 12 between family and friends. The home is beautiful and just as advertised. Elsa is amazing and took care of everything, made recommendations, and reservations for anything we needed. Xiomara is incredible! She made over the top breakfasts every morning that you would have had to go to a buffet at a restaurant to have so many choices. Her smoothies are amazing too! She kept the home spotless as well! The pool and patio out back overlook the Hole 1 green, which is a nice bonus. Inside Hacienda Pinilla is great too with access to the JW Marriott and JW Beach Club, which are a short drive in the car or golf cart. We will definitely be back! Thank you, Elsa and Xiomara for ensuring we had such a great trip!

Located just a short drive from vibrant Tamarindo, this private home offered a serene retreat with a beautiful pool and spacious accommodations. Xiomara, the housekeeper, treated us to delicious Costa Rican breakfasts featuring homemade pico de gallo and guacamole. This was our first time staying in Tamarindo. We loved Hacienda Pinilla and especially Casa Descanza. The pool was used quite a bit to cool off. Our maid was incredible who prepared the most incredible Costa Rican meals. Overall it was “Pura Vida”.

My group of 10 and I had an amazing stay to celebrate my 30th birthday. Elsa helped coordinate yoga at the air bnb as well as excursions and transportation throughout the stay. The home itself was even better than the pictures and grounds are stunning. The air bnb is nestled in a beautiful community. I would strongly consider renting golf carts or a car for transportation as Ubers are not the best in this area and are not always able to get through security despite prior authorization. Xiomara was fantastic and cooked the most an amazing breakfast and snacks. Elsa and Sam were very responsive and checked in on us throughout the stay. Overall we had a great experience and would definitely recommend staying here. I’ll be back!

My family and I had the best time in Costa Rica. The house was amazing, the property was in perfect condition and the house was fully stocked with everything you could need.
The hosting team was extremely attentive. It was like having a private concierge. They helped us book several excursions and connected us with a chef and live music artist for several relaxing dinners at home around the pool.

Beautiful place and very well appointed. Concierge services and daily in house cleaning/cooking was amazing! The only issue we had was a broken refrigerator but it was addressed quickly which was great. I would recommend the house have 4 bikes so that people could use them as they liked. Biking around that area would be so perfect! Also a few pool rafts would be a nice touch for lounging in the pool on this beautiful hot afternoons. All in all a great trip!

The house and property were amazing and spot on to the pictures! This was our first family vacation with the kids and grandkids and there was plenty of room for all 10 of us. I can’t say enough about this place and the amazing time we had. It was so magical. We had a great view of the golf course and giant red Macaws in the tree on the course. We had a family of monkeys come visit a few times in the trees in the front yard. There is so much to do on the property but some days we didn’t even leave the house it was so relaxing in the back yard by the pool. From the start of booking to the last day of our trip, our concierge Elsa was amazing. She helped us find a chef, photographer and helped navigate travel arrangements in the area and anything else we needed. We could not have done this trip with out her help. Also our housekeeper Xiomara….she was the perfect host. She made us amazing breakfasts and snacks and made sure we were taken care of throughout the day. She was so friendly and attentive to us all. I would definitely go back to this house if we can ever make it back to Costa Rica. The beaches near by were a bit rocky in some areas but still plenty of beachfront to enjoy a swim, boogie board or surf. Hacienda Panilla is quite large so definitely recommend a car or golf cart to get around. We had issues with the golf cart provider (not part of Hacienda Panilla) and our cart kept breaking down but as frustrating as it was we made some memories we will never forget

Elsa and Xiomara were absolutely fantastic. Elsa was responsive to all of our questions and requests, helping us set up excursions, dinners and any issues that came up. Xiomara ensured the house was super clean, breakfast was served and snacks were always available whenever we needed.
I absolutely loved the house and once the pool was clean, it was gorgeous to hang around and bask in the sun. I'd definitely stay here again and I'll recommend it to my friends.

It was a wonderful place to reconnect with our dearest friends. The patio looks out toward a majestic tree with nesting red macaws. It was wonderful to wake up early and listen to various animals beginning their day. The pool was wonderful. But the most wonderful thing about the place is all the kind people who took care of us. The house keeper cooked wonderful breakfasts. Elsa helped coordinate some excursions and massages for nine people with patience and kindness. The driver and tour guides were knowledgeable and also very patient.

Casa Descanza is a wonderful villa overlooking the 1st green of Hacienda Pinilla Golf Club. The daily cook/housekeeper is a game changer. She prepared breakfast each morning with the groceries that we brought. She made the beds, did light wash and fixed our appetizers each afternoon before leaving. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen is great. We spent most of our time around the pool, watching the golfers, grilling fish and looking at the birds including scarlet macaws. The concierge, Elsa, is very responsive and helpful. There are seasonal specials such as a half day fishing trip so be sure to ask. The house is a 10 minute drive to Playa Langosta which is beautiful and not overcrowded.

Let me start by saying the villa is absolutely beautiful the pics doesn't do the property any justice, it is breathtaking in person. I traveled to Costa Rica to celebrate my mother's 70th birthday. The benefit was having a bathroom in each room. Elsa was the one that helped get us setup with everything prior. From booking cars, atvs, massages, which saved a lot of time for us to do research. I would def book here again.

This “Stay in Tamarindo” estate was absolutely wonderful and the best place to stay for vacation in the Tamarindo area. The place is exactly as pictured and so spacious, even for a group of 12. (Of note, there is actually a small half bathroom on the first floor which is great for the individuals who have the bedroom with no ensuite bathroom) Xiomara was the best ‘house-mom’ for the group! She came from 8-4pm every day to cook our group the most delicious breakfast and did light cleaning in all of the rooms! The best addition to our vacation. Lastly, Elsa was the best concierge! I spent months prior in contact with her planning this group vacation. She had answers to all my questions. Excursions, transportation, golf carts, hiring chefs, pre-stocking food, getting downtown - she handled it all! Second short stay in Descanza for me. I appreciate the changements in the decoration. Good plan to have decided to add a fifth room. It’s comfortable to have the choice between two different terraces. Most of all it’s a pleasure to see Xiomara: she is smiling and seems happy to work in the house she is attentive and sees immediately what must be done.

Elsa, our contact at "Stay in Tamarindo" (who rents the house) was amazing. If there were any problems or questions, she responded extremely quickly. Beautiful house on the golf course. Very clean and comfortable. Morning coffee in the outdoor living area was a highlight for us on the trip! The amenities included with Hacienda Pinella are great. It's a short ride to outstanding uncrowded beaches with amenities right there including restaurants, pools, gym, etc.

My family and I had a great experience at Casa Descanza. Elsa, the concierge was attentive and available. The villa was beautiful and Xiomara was amazing. This was our first time in Costa Rica however it will not be our last!

Elsa and Mirian (concierge) were amazing and the place was exceptional. Xiomara (housekeeping) was very attentive . We will definitely be returning.

We had a host greet us and run through everything which was very helpful. They were very responsive to our needs. The home is absolutely gorgeous and everyone was extremely comfortable. Couldn’t have asked for a better stay! All amenities worked and hot water was never an issue

I loved my stay in tamarindo it was such an amazing experience for everyone my group our housekeeper was such a sweetheart and the security were very helpful on giving us directions our host Elsa was very helpful and responsive to anything that we needed help with. I will definitely come back :)
