The Compass House is absolutely stunning, and the views were spectacular and breathtaking. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our first encounter in Costa Rica was with Eddie, our shuttle driver. He was very hospitable and very informative. Adriana was very courteous as she gave us a tour through the property. Flamingo Foods was an excellent referral for our private dinner. Cris was very attentive to our needs and gave great suggestions…Pizza Express and Flamingo Beach was a huge hit! Lis is absolutely amazing. Breakfast was deliciously prepared and served with her beautiful smile. She took wonderful care of us in a way that made us feel at home.

This villa was extraordinary with spectacular views. The pictures do not do this villa justice. It is 10 times more beautiful in person. The staff was amazing. we were very close to the city. I would highly recommend the villa.

Property was as advertised, you tube videos were spot on. Great views of Tamarindo beach from the pool area, the pool was awesome. Loved the outside area, we had breakfast there every morning. There was a guard at the property in the evenings. The Sonos sound system was nice, the outside grill area was great we used it a few times. Stay Tamarindo concierge service was great, we used them all the time to book excursions, airports pickups, restaurant reservations and also a good source of information about the area. Our House Mom was awesome, she made us breakfast ever morning, cleaned the rooms as needed, provide pool towels, etc. She was great to have around the house and made our stay very welcoming and fun. Compass house was awesome, can't say enough good things, we had 10 folks stay there over the week and they all loved the house and the town of Tamarindo.

I booked Compass house through VRBO for my 50th birthday. Stayed there for a week with family and friends 10 folks over that week. It was a good time to visit Guanacaste as the dry season was over and the rains made it green and lush again. The house was impeccable, same as the you tube videos and pictures if not better. Some highlights are the awesome view of Tamarindo beach and the bay, the outside kitchen and seating area, the Sonos sound system and the awesome master bedroom. The tamarindo staff was great, shout out to Camile for being there to help me book any and everything some times at the last minute. It was easy and convenient to make payment online for all excursions, airport pickups, etc. Our house Mom was fantastic, she made our stay at Compass house perfect. My spanish is not great but we had a few folks in our the party with decent spanish so they communicated well with her and Google translate also worked. She made us great breakfast every morning, help with laundry made sure we have clean pool/beach towels and was a good source of information about the local beaches. Thank you Tamarindo and the staff of Compass house. Fireworks and heart emojis for everyone.

We were a party of 9 and had an amazing time at this home. Close driving distance to beach from house but does require an ATV or AWD vehicle to navigate down to the beach or town. Parking was not an issue. Security guard on premise during the evenings. Housekeepers were fantastic and available . Gorgeous infinity pool with hot tub and amazing sunset views each night.

This house was AMAZING! There were plenty of spaces to play games, eat meals, relax, chat, and swim...all at the same time. Each room was huge with plenty of closet space and private bathroom. The pool and hot tube were magnificent, and the views were one of a kind. The concierge, maid, gardener, and security guard were all awesome and made our stay so much better. We definitely loved Compass House and will cherish our time there.

It is a very well thought out and elegant space that comfortably accommodated all 11 of us with plenty of room to spare. We relaxed and dined by the pool, chilled out in the hot tub and gathered around the huge island for drinks and conversation. I can't say enough about the property managers at 5 Star Tamarindo who catered to our every need. Big shout outs to Denisse, Anna, and Natalia for making arrangements for our incredible stay. They also connected us with Chef Fabien Mandrea who cooked 4 delicious dinners for us. Thanks to Cristina who took care of us and made sure we had a relaxing and care free time in Tamarindo. This was a dream vacation that I plan to repeat often.

We had a great time at Casa Compass. The ladies managing the company made sure all our excursions were planned out for us, and even got in contact with one of the excursion companies when they were late to pick us of because of a flat tire. Whenever we had questions, or wanted to add something new to the trip, they were always very quick at responding. Which was a lot because we were a big group. Can't wait to come back with the family!!

The house was immaculate and the views from every corner were spectacular. Natalia provided topnotch management and. concierge services throughout the entire stay. The group breakfast each morning on the open air terrace was a delicious and amazing start to the day. From the pool boy and gardener to the cleaning staff and security guard, their discreet, respectful, attention to detail was greatly appreciated. The location of Compass House was perfect in relation to the great little surf town of Tamarindo. Definitely a car is necessary to get up & down the steep dirt road leading up to the house from the main drag. Hearing the male Howler monkey’s unique territorial calls, mostly at sunrise, added to our wonderful family adventure.

The property was fabulous, super clean, great outdoor space, fantastic views. Natalia and Maria were a pleasure to deal with. We fit 13 people very comfortably in the house. Going up and down the hill into town can be a bit of a challenge however.

They helped with reservations, excursions, and transportation.
I would take advantage of the guest page when you book, It is helpful with planning your vacation. The road and hill to the house are pain to walk, so rent a car, golf cart, and if you don’t want to deal with parking, Five Star can help connect you to a van pick up service around town for your large group- inexpensive and handy. I would rent this house again.

The views , rooms and pool were unbelievable. But what mattered most to us was their very friendly staff. Natalia the house manager was absolutely amazing. She coordinated everything for us and always went an extra mile to make sure we had the best time during our stay.
Roberto cooked for us every morning and we loved his food. We had two guests that are vegan and he made sure to accommodate a separate menu for him. Reyna our daily cleaning lady was very sweet and did a great job.
I want to thank again everyone at Compass house for making sure we left with the best memories. We hope to stay at this house again!

We booked two properties from Five Star Tamarindo, so that we could accommodate our guests, as well as host our wedding ceremony, cocktail hour and reception for 35 people. We did this from a distance, in the US, and we had no idea how incredibly beautiful the spaces are, until we walked in for the first time. The wow factor when you walk into Compass is massive. My wife and I and our guests were oooh-ing and ahhh-ing as soon as we walked in... the view is incredible, with the infinity pool as foreground against a gorgeous backdrop of sky, beachfront, and ocean.

Natalia was such a very special part of our experience. Her calm and friendly smile, her sincerity, was so great, especially on our wedding day. She was available to help us with anything we needed; she was so excellent with communication, and she even helped with the small things, making suggestions for our stay, and even helping out with breakfast.
Breakfast was provided for our guests, every single day, and it was such a lovely experience to share in fresh fruits, Costa Rican food, and fresh juice alongside our family and friends daily.

Onto the villas!!
I can’t say enough about Compass House and Leo Loco. The two properties are connected by a walkway and stairs that leads from the back of each house. Since we rented both villas, we got the best of both worlds, but I will review each separately.

Gorgeous, modern, minimalist, and breathtaking views. Each room had its own bathroom, and the staff helped keep everything clean and tidy daily. The view and the infinity pool were the highlight of everyone

We had a group of 16 staying at the Compass House for a long weekend. The house was amazing! All the rooms are fairly equal, except the master and two twin rooms. I love how everyone had their own bathroom. The views with the sliding glass doors made for the perfect setting to watch sunsets. The huge outdoor table is where we had all our meals except the one night we ate in town. Natalia was patient and helpful and help me setup airport transportation, golf cart rentals, chef recommendations, tours, and so much more!! She was responsive whenever we had a question or request. She truly made this experience a five star treatment. The rest of the house staff, including the breakfast which is included, was top notch. The group had a great time and I would highly recommend this house to anyone!!! I would love to take a trip back myself!

The house is spectacular - all glass and concrete and stunning views of the Pacific Ocean. The design is luxurious and modern with brand new appliances and comforts in every room. We opted to have a sweet local maid make us breakfast every day and the food she made was delightful and healthy. She even kept plates for us on days we slept in, going above and beyond what we expected. The pool was epic too! It is an infinity pool with attached hot tub for cooler evenings. I don't think there was every a time when the pool was empty the entire time we were there, our group loved it so much. Nadia and Mario were excellent to deal with and incredibly responsive to the needs of our group. I would stay again in a heartbeat!

Sitting in the infinity pool you are looking at the beautiful surfing beaches of Tamarindo. The house is brand new with everything one would want and expect from a 5 star 's nice having a choice between a large commercial grade kitchen indoors and an equally large and functional outdoor kitchen complete with pizza oven! The property location is a perfect balance between beaches, restaurants and complete privacy from both. Tons of room for family and friends. Will definitely go back.

Compass House in Tamarindo is the epitome of the perfect location, luxury and tranquillity. The pool and hot tub are a body embracing joy and the view from both are unparalleled! The beds are extraordinay and all the rooms have separate climate control. Compass House has an amazing ‘Indoor Embraces Outdoor’ feel and you’re always experiencing the beauty of Tamarindo from every room and angle. With an indoor and outdoor kitchen (including a pizza oven) there is no shortage of space to entertain your friends and family. Tons of seating indoor and out as well.
I can’t think of a more luxurious, unique and romantic place to experience a private retreat or life changing group or family event. I can’t wait to experience Compass House many more times in the future!

Our recent stay at The Compass House in Tamarindo, Costa Rica surpassed even our wildest imaginations. The photographs of this property brilliantly showcase the exquisiteness of this stunning residence, but what it doesn't prepare you for is the overwhelming feeling you'll get the moment you open up the front gate. You'll feel like a rock star the second you walk through the oversized front door. You'll be welcomed by friendly staff who are attentive and helpful. And your jaw will hit the floor when you lay eyes on the surreal view which overlooks the bay from every room. This place is equipped with everything you need to host an event, wedding or birthday party. The amenities were careful thought out from the infinity pool, outdoor kitchen with ice machine, and bathrooms in every room. You cannot dream up a better vacation home if you tried. We stayed here with a group for friends wedding. The home is absolutely beautiful and the sunset and ocean views were probably the best you can get in Tamarindo, and it's looking out over the infinity pool. Each couple had there own room with a private bathroom – the perfect place to have an event like a wedding and keep everyone in one place. Having cleaners there every day and breakfast made for us every morning was a treat too! We had more friends in the neighbouring house (also amazing) which is owned by the same couple. Dal and Darren were great hosts and made sure our friends had the wedding of their dreams. Highly recommend!

An absolutely incredible place beyond any expectations I could have had. I have never been to Costa Rica before, or anywhere tropical and I was nervous about the heat, the bugs, and sharing a house with others. This house was more like a small resort with air conditioning in every room and a special system to keep bugs away and a huge pool, bigger than most hotels I've stayed in. It was the best vacation I've ever had because I was so comfortable there and it was so big that I could still have my own privacy when I needed it. I walked into town and it only took 20 minutes and it was nice to get a bit of exercise. I hope that one day I can come back as nowhere else in this world can compare to this amazing property.

What an amazing place. Modern, new house carved into the hill-side with a huge infinity pool with swim-up bar, large outdoor eating area, and about a 5 minute walk down the hill to the beach and shops of Tamarindo. We attended a private wedding at the house and the deck area worked very well for a ceremony and reception. The house is spectacular and the helpful and courteous staff were there every morning to cook an amazing breakfast for us. Howler monkeys swung by on nearby trees one day and the sunsets were spectacular each night. I can't wait to go back here.

We spent a week and a half at this incredible place and we were blown away. The owners have paid so much attention to detail in the design, decorating and overall construction of this place. Each room is so spacious with huge windows that look into the panoramic ocean view and have their own bathrooms and balconys. The main living room has floor-to-ceiling windows that open up COMPLETELY to the pool and view, bringing the outdoors in and allowing the breeze to flow through the whole house. The entire property is really undescribable. I can't say enough about how great this place was and what a blast we had with our friends and family here. Can't wait to go back!

Attention to detail. Not the easiest to find on Google Maps, but after arriving and jumping into the infinity pool, all the stress of traveling to Costa Rica (from Vancouver) went away in an instant. The property is brand new and the owner spared no expense to ensure guests have the best experience while in Tamarindo. The owners Darren and Dal (and their children) were excellent hosts who made us feel at home right away. I would highly recommend this property to large groups and the wedding we attended was the best wedding we have ever been to. The view is amazing and the layout of the house make it very enjoyable.

This magnificent, beautiful, spectacular house needs to be in a magazine! An absolute wonderful time and amazing experience was had by 30+ of us not only at this house but the house above as well. We came down for a destination wedding and all had the time of our lives. From the moment you pulled up to the drive way you knew that the experience was going to be memorable. Then you open the front door and your breath was taken away by the gorgeous house lay out, views, and pool. Everything was top of the line, all expectations were exceeded. From the moment we pulled up to the driveway we knew we were in a very special place. Then you open the door and see the spectacular view, open concept house, infinity pool and amazing design. This place is luxury...….it was a dream.....anyone would be impressed if they are lucky enough to go. We went down for 7 days for a large wedding and from start to finish this place was top notch. The town was a short walk just down the hill (made it many times during our stay). The maids did an unreal job every day. The pool, the view, the living room, the beds, the baths and the patio area outside were all perfect. Could not have pictured a better place to go anywhere. Looking forward to going back.

You know you've found an oasis when you spend 7 days in a new town and only leave the house once. This palace in the hills of Tamarindo is full private luxury and you'll understand what I mean when you open the giant front door and stare stare through the living room, over the infinity pool and look out across the entire town deep into the ocean. Tamarindo in May is insanely hot and that pool quickly became the heart of the entire wedding adventure. The cooks/cleaners and maintenance team took great care of us, if you've got a big party and Tamarindo is your destination it's definitely worth considering.

We had booked the Bach’s properties for a wedding in June upon arrival we were led to Casa Leo Loco which had the opalescence of everything you would want for a radiant Costa Rican home. With its unique bedrooms to monumental infinity pool/hot tub over looking the ocean. We would have been more then just fine staying here but low and behold we got to stay in the Compass House. Now as a builder and this being my fourth trip to Costa Rica I keep a close eye on the architecture throughout the country. I am confident in saying that this is the nicest, well built home that I have seen there. It perfectly separates the many spacious bedrooms from the beautiful living/dinning room and kitchen, which were well decorated and great places to socialize. All with a grand view overlooking the ocean and town of Tamarindo below. (Which makes it great for the surfer to see and choose the best surf zones of the day) Wait till you see the view from the master bedroom! A shocking cantilevered unobstructed corner view that can not be beat. The infinity pool is amazing and definitely a favourite to all. With another kitchen with fridge/ ice maker we always had cold drinks in the hot sun. The 20’ double sided live edge table is astounding and perfect for our group dinners. This home was well designed with great thought and planning for groups to just have fun!! We absolutely loved our stay at both homes. And are hoping to make it a yearly tradition. Also the owners Darren and Daleth are so accommodating and have a vast knowledge of the town and any entertainment you could imagine. From musical artists singing live from the house to planning catamaran tours and more. They are amazing hosts and we’re so great at making sure we never had a dull moments!! Thank you so much for the most memorable experiences !

Absolutely gorgeous, large, well finished house. Great floor plan for entertaining and hosting the wedding we were at. The pool is perfect and has amazing views of the coast. The outdoor kitchen was great as we didn’t ever want to leave the view and the pizza oven is just a huge bonus. Will be back for sure. The hosts were incredibly willing to make sure our stay was as good as it can get as well

Living the High life, Literally – Compass House in Tamarindo, Costa Rica May 26-June 2, 2018 You will feel like a celebrity staying in this beautifully designed hilltop mansion. Our bedroom was spacious with a king sized comfortable bed. The air conditioning was excellent and definitely needed in the hot humid climate. We were with a group rental of 16 people and a few toddlers (ours included) for a wedding so our room was a great escape with the little one when needed. We never heard a peep from our neighbors in the rooms beside us and what an amazing view! Pool and Living Area: The infinity pool and living space (indoor and outdoor) was definitely the highlight for my wife and I. The floor to ceiling double pane glass windows/doors overlooking the pool and Tamarindo shoreline will be something I never forget. The window/doors were ideal to close out the heat and blast the air conditioners when cooking or needing to cool down. While also perfect to open when chilling in the pool during the day. The kitchen was spacious, fully equipped, and even had a vitamix blender for cool blended drinks. A breakfast service was provided by our bride and groom through local hired help. The huge outdoor second kitchen area/bar included an ice machine, pizza oven, fridge and serving area. We ate breakfast on the huge outdoor table (seating roughly 30 people comfortably) everyday. Another amazing feature separate from the house was the ability to watch Howler monkeys on their native migration route right in front of the house. They were there everyday and within a few feet (it was totally safe) at times. Proximity to Tamarindo: We walked down the hill into Tamarindo. It only took 10 minutes and there were taxis for about 8 dollars if we didn’t want to walk back up the hill. Our group leaders (bride and groom) had arranged several excursions during the week which is a must! We went mini golfing, golfing, on a catamaran cruise and snorkeled. Our week long stay at Compass House was the best vacation we have ever experienced. We highly recommend it for an unforgettable holiday.

We stayed at compass house for a week in May 2018 with 18 of our friends and family members. Our experience was beyond incredible and this property is more beautiful and luxurious than any of the photos can give it credit for. Not only did we spend a week-long vacation here, we also had our wedding celebration at Compass House. The ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner and reception was all held on the property with the stunning ocean and sunset view as our backdrop. We VERY much preferred holding our wedding at this private mansion as opposed to the beach or busy resort. We had the whole property to ourselves and ample room to dance and dine. The master bedroom suite is a dream with its full sliding glass doors that open up to a private patio and glorious ocean view. It was the perfect room for the bride and bridesmaids to get ready in and prepare for the ceremony. The caterer and dj were both able to set-up on site and provide their services easily throughout the evening. The full length infinity pool was a highlight of our stay as it easily accommodated our whole group and has the same incredible views as the rest of the mansion. The property managers were extremely accommodating and worked very hard to ensure our stay was an experience beyond our expectations. We highly recommend Compass House for a phenomenal vacation experience and/or wedding venue. Our wedding day was more than we could have dreamed of and we can't wait to visit this property again.
